PROJECT DETAILS

The Women leadership program aims to train at least 30 girls on Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, and leadership. Through this program young women will be able to access opportunities, improve their business skills and learn how to participate in community development. They will be better equipped to lead projects tackling the challenges faced in their communities.

The ongoing Anglophone crisis in Cameroon has claimed the lives of over 4000 civilians in the Southwest and Northwest regions and caused the displacement of over 750 000 civilians to other regions especially Yaoundé the Capital city. In 2019 UNICEF reported 855000 children out of school for nearly three years with girls being more vulnerable to sexually assault, precarious jobs, and teenage pregnancies. This has caused a great gender gap for internally displaced girls in the center region to access quality education and other opportunities for girls to fully manifest their potentials. Furthermore, the few internally displaced girls who manage to access education attend public schools that do not have the necessary resources to guarantee quality education. Such schools lack resources such as competent teachers, computers, enough class hours and practical lessons on information technology.

The Women leadership program aims to train at least 30 girls on Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, and leadership. Through this program girls will be able to access opportunities, improve their business skills and learn how to participate in community development. Thus, they will be better equipped to lead community projects based on the challenges faced in their communities. At the end of the program participants will gain skills on how to use Microsoft Office such as word, excel, PowerPoint and publisher. Additionally, they will be trained on how to use the internet, networking platforms and online learning platforms such as Baobab, EDx learning courses, Yali and linkedin. Such platforms will enable them to take online courses of their interest and obtain certificates.  Moreover, they will receive training on Costing, pricing, marketing strategies, cashflow and risk management. On top of this they will have fieldtrips to companies owned by successful entrepreneur where they will be able to learn from more experienced entrepreneurs.
